Zomerlust Office Park faced daunting operational challenges, significantly impacting its financial sustainability and environmental footprint. The reliance on diesel generators during load shedding events incurred exorbitant operational costs and posed environmental concerns due to increased emissions. Moreover, the relentless surge in electricity tariffs added to the financial strain, making it imperative for Zomerlust to seek a sustainable and cost-effective energy solution. These challenges underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive energy upgrade to alleviate financial burdens, reduce environmental impact, and ensure uninterrupted operations at the business park.

Renowned for our expertise in crafting bespoke renewable energy solutions in the commercial sector, we embarked on a mission to transform Zomerlust into a model of resilience and sustainability. With unwavering dedication, we embraced the opportunity to tackle the park’s energy woes head-on.

At the beginning of the project, Dontuwire collaborated closely with Zomerlust to define clear objectives aligned with the company’s vision. The project aimed to achieve the following key objectives:

• Lower Electricity Costs: Utilise renewable energy sources to decrease electricity expenses, ensuring long-term cost savings and strengthened financial security.
• Reduce Diesel Generator Operating Cost: Minimise diesel generators’ running costs during load shedding events, mitigating operational costs and lessening environmental impact.
• Minimise Carbon Footprint: Transition towards clean and renewable energy sources, reflecting Zomerlust’s commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.

A significant milestone for the Zomerlust project was implementing an 82.8 kW Three-Phase SolarEdge on-grid inverter, providing clean solar power and integrating with the existing generator during load-shedding events. This advanced technology offers unparalleled safety, optimisation and reliability, significantly reducing the diesel generator running costs. Two hundred high-efficiency 375W Canadian Solar Panels and a hundred SolarEdge DC optimisers guarantee optimal energy generation and efficiency, reducing the park’s dependency on grid power and leading to substantial savings in electricity costs. In addition, the integration of SolarEdge Power Plant Controller (PCC) ensures seamless operation with diesel generators during grid outages, safeguarding the park against power instability and voltage fluctuations.

This comprehensive setup enhances operational resilience and minimises the park’s carbon footprint, aligning with Zomerlust’s commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.
